Subject: Advice on first HT
Hello, I'm currently taking the Tech Nocode instruction courses. I'm
looking for my first radio, and I've decided it'll probably be a HT Dual
band, 2M/440. There are several out on the market. Can anyone steer me
to or away from one of them. They all seem to be pretty well filled out, but
practical experience will tell you a lot more than the advertisments.
Thanks in advance

FOR SALE: Yaesu FT-290R Mk II 2-meter SSB/CW/FM multimode, 25 w.
output, 10 memories, 2 VFOs, scan. Absolutely mint, new condition,
one month old. $500.00 OBO and I'll pay shipping. Very nice
compact radio, but I prefer a HF rig & transverter setup.

Please see my re-post; it should have been "$500.00 OBO." If you
don't like the price, Rusty, make me an offer; I'm flexible.

I experience the exact same behavior and have also noticed that it
is not exhibited by the 404. I tried a new 202 in a local RS store
and was unable to duplicate the behavior on that one. Didn't spend
a lot of time at it though... RS saleman (for what its worth) says
"it shouldn't do that, send it in for service..."

Actually, it was Tracy who posted the original question, and I suggested the
need for a connection in the earphone socket. You got your quote attributions
backwards.
Cheers,
Tom
